The Canadian Fall Prevention Conference: Transforming Knowledge to Action was designed to provide a meeting ground for those working to prevent falls among the elderly, the substantial medical costs that result from fractures, and the debilitating effects of fear of falling and loss of mobility of quality of life. Strategies for building capacity at local, national, and international levels were presented and considered. The National Implementation Research Network presentation focused on the frameworks that can guide practice and research when attempting to make use of fall prevention and recovery innovations in a variety of settings (emergency medical teams, nursing home staff, exercise leaders, community planners).
